SO

DARC

BEBEDORA, THOUGHTS ON

[identity profile] allthediffrence.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahahah. THEY'RE NOT THAT COMPLICATED - Darc got the more thoughtful human brain of the twins, but he also doesn't think TOO MUCH on things once he makes the decision.

Bebedora! Is a friend. Darc is taken from post-game, so her betrayal to the Lord of the Black Abyss is factored into this answer. When Maru (or whoever) was yelling at him for his decision to cut her down and kill her when she attacked, he didn't even give a "THIS IS HOW THE DEIMOS DO IT" excuse - he said he hated it, but it wasn't Bebedora anymore. :( IT SUCKED. A LOT. And then when she was unbrainwashed and okay, it was awesome!! "You had us all worried :| :|" AND SHE MAKES HIM SMILE, which he rarely does outside of chapter 1.

As for her reading his goddamn mind all the time. It. Makes him awkward. He used to HATE it, and would shout at her and deny what she'd say, and she'd laugh at him and he'd sulk. NOW, it's like. . . he does understand his own standing a lot more in regards to his morals and determination, and while he's still completely stubborn about denying his own humanity, he never denied that he was half-human, so when she trips out over him being such a colorful mixed-up soul, it doesn't get to him too badly. She doesn't weird him out as much anymore; he's the person in the party that is the LEAST weirded out by her at this point, and he usually understands what she's saying. He still doesn't like her giving away all his tsundere rage and pointing out when Darc is extremely lonely. But he doesn't lash out anymore, more like grumble under his breath. I-it's Bebedora, he can't do anything about it. Threats do nothing.

THE SHORT OF IT IS, he likes her a LOT and would cut bitches for her, and she's his important party member :| but she's still an evil little mind reader. She's like the creepy Deimos little sister he never had.

He thinks it's funny when she messes with other people, though.

TELL ME AGAIN ABOUT YAMAMOTO'S MOTHER DEAR.

Also Mustang's first time now that you've learned his SECRET PAST.

MAN I THINK I'M LOSING DETAILS EVERY TIME I RETELL THIS

ok ok. Yamamoto's mom:

Is a SUPER HOT ASSASSIN BABE that married his dad while he was still active in the assassin business. She is toppy and rapisty and her and Yamapapa took turns being rapists, but she's always been the CAREER FIRST!! one. They were both 100% behind having a baby, as they are both stupid parents. There was a CATCH, though! They completely disagreed on how to raise the kid. Yamapapa decided it would be better to raise him like a normal kid so he could have a NORMAL CHILDHOOD, and Yamamama knew FROM THE BEGINNING that her son would be THE BEST ASSASSIN EVER AND WOULD BE HOLDING A WEAPON BEFORE HE HELD A BOTTLE.

There was a fight over this!! AN EPIC FIGHT OF RAPE PROPORTIONS Because the Yamamotos don't hold back ever, from their loud retarded love for each other to their assassin techniques. IT'S A DRAW, and she has to LEAVE to go on a huge, huuuge mission. She tells Yamapapa that when she comes back, she expects her son to be A FULL-FLEDGED ASSASSIN :| and away she goes.

When she comes back and sees Yamamoto is a ~~Vongola Guardian~~ and has ~inherited the Shigure Souen~ she's going to be SO HAPPY and HUG HIM ALL OVER and CLEARLY BE A STUPIDMOM, but then she'll figure out Yamamoto's an idiot who thinks it's a game and she'll SOB TRAGICALLY and then go beat the shit out of Yamapapa for turning her baby into an idiot. BUT IT'LL BE OK, SHE WILL BE SUPER DETERMINED TO TEACH TAKESHI EVERYTHING AND MAKE HIM THE DEADLIEST EVER!! And whenever anyone goes over to the Yamamoto residence during dinner, every pass will be a THROW OF DEATH, with the family all smiles :D And if Yama's parents are fighting it'll be AN EPIC HORRIBLE BATTLE IN THE BACKGROUND and he'll just go "Ha ha it's getting a little heated in there."

THIS IS WHAT I HAVE DECIDED IS TRUTH :|

~~MUSTANG'S FIRST TIME~~ Is pretty much the only thing that I've changed since learning he was raised in a whorehouse. Previously I had decided he got seduced by a SEXY TEACHER when he was 14, it was all very shady but suitably epic. THIS HAS STILL HAPPENED. But, it wasn't his first time.

OK! Since he was raised in a whorehouse, that means he was either taken in by the owner (if this is true then my guess is he was 3, 4 or so) or he was an illegitimate kid of one of the working girls. Either way, he wasn't on the streets and had a bed and food, so there was never any skeevy prepubescent rape or selling himself to survive. I also don't think he was ever a whore himself in profession (...though he has taken money for sex). I THINK he was put to chores to make himself useful, and was raised to be The Man Of The House. I actually think he's better at hand to hand now (or better with firearms), because when he was a teenager he was chucking jackass johns out of that place. I'm not sure where he went from living in a whorehouse in Central to being in the country with Hawkeye as an alchemy master, but he was probably arounnnd Ed's age, maybe a little older, and self-taught til then.

I'm pretty sure he was like, eleven or twelve, and one of his "older sisters" caught him jerking off and thought it was adorable and molested him. So he would be prepared! He was growing up very handsome after all and the girls would be all over him and what kind of hooker big sisters would they be if they let him go into that world unprepared. So... basically as soon as he hit puberty, a gorgeous hooker raped him. IT WAS A WHOLE NEW WORLD.

So there are totally stories of Roy coming back from alchemy schooling and setting skeevy johns on fire too, right?

[identity profile] lolmafialol.livejournal.com 2008-09-18 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
NO I DON'T THINK HE DID because it took the war for him to get the experience to control the size and shape of the explosions and the depth of burns. If he used his alchemy on a dude BEFORE that it would be Extremely Messy.

Also Hawkeye would. Stab him in the face.

I'm sure he used other amaaazing alchemy though. The doorframes probably all have parts of old arrays chalked here and there.

Does Mustang's taste in people run to spaceslut Jack?

[identity profile] lolmafialol.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
NOT QUITE. Mustang's personal taste is not unlimited, and I highly doubt he would do an alien if it wasn't humanoid. (If it is humanoid...)

It takes a very nasty woman, looks AND personality, for Mustang to rule them out entirely; he looooves women. His FAVORITE women are very feminine, though that doesn't mean frail; he likes big hips and curves (and obviously shapely legs). Age really isn't an issue. If the girl has it, she has it. Though uh, he REALLY tries to keep it over 18. (The youngest was 15 and that was not his fault and her father shot him. Which is why he's been shot more often off-duty than on-duty. Hughes will never let him forget it >( )

With men he's more candid, so he's more selective. He's not as attracted to men as he is to women. If it's not a move for power or stress or convenience, he's also a lot more picky. As far as taste goes, Mustang is usually attracted to strong, masculine guys with good presence. He'll also sleep with assholes more if they're men than if they're women. A woman can make "evil bitch" work for her fine and Roy's had some great hatesex, but with Roy it's more likely to take away points on a woman - with a guy, it's almost ALWAYS a game, and Roy can't help but play games. This is how Roy makes Bad Decisions like Kimblee.

As for transgendered and crossdressing types, he's decidedly LESS weirded out by this now that I know where he was raised. But, it still throws him off. If someone has a love flower, he's partly QUITE PUT OFF and partly HIGHLY CURIOUS. So while it's not RULED OUT, it does throw him off considerably.

Also overall he does have a fondness for blondes.

THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS TO ALL OF THIS. But, that's his usual. In other words no, he would not say to just EVERYONE EVER, "Hi, my name is Colonel Roy Mustang, and who are you?"

What Cloud thinks about the heroes in the FFVII world (soo like Sephiroth, erm, Zack, and himself being a 'hero' etc blah blah) :? or does it not even factor in |D

[identity profile] lolmafialol.livejournal.com 2008-09-17 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Think about them as in, like... his opinion? Because he worshiped Sephiroth as a kid and wanted to join SOLDIER because of him, and when Zack was awesome he completely hero-worshiped him. Sephiroth he still has an underlying current of respect for, but it's not a good respect; more like he doesn't underestimate how powerful and dangerous he is. Since he has his memories all arranged again, he doesn't have any personal ties to Sephiroth, save for the fact that Zack adored him. It's Zack's adoration that's the only thing keeping him from just completely hating him, because it had to come from somewhere. It doesn't matter anymore, though. Zack, however, was a hero through and through.

If you're talking about the whole, I WANT TO BE A HERO!! Complex that Zack has... Cloud doesn't have that. He respects it, but Zack was his hero, and Zack is. Dead. It's not romanticized to Cloud anymore. It used to be; he wanted to be Tifa's hero, so much so that failure meant he couldn't even show his face to her. Now, he doesn't think of himself as a hero at all - what kind of hero lets Zack and Aeris die in front of him? He just wants to protect what he can, and if his hand-me-down self has the strength to do so, then that's what he'll do. He has very little concept of himself as a strong person, since all of his strength comes from his weaknesses - Zack and Aeris dying for him, for example, and the fact that Jenova took to him so well. He doesn't think he's a hero. The heroes he knew are all dead. He's just a survivor, and he's going to make sure everyone else is too.

[identity profile] lolmafialol.livejournal.com 2008-09-18 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
KAZU THE GAY UNCLE WOULD BE AMAZING. This is sort of a future AU thing instead of headcanon, but HOMG. He'd totally be the cool down to earth (...for a storm rider) uncle that all the kids love because he gives THE FASTEST PIGGYBACKS, and... he and ikki and ringo (BECAUSE THAT'S WHO YOU'RE HAVING BABIES WITH) are all basically exactly the same. Kazu's just older and WAY HOTTER. And he'll never wear something like Spitfire wears, it's waaay too flashy, but it won't matter because he'll be dropdead gorgeous at that age. Anyway he'll be a way more awesome gay uncle than HIS gay uncles, because he won't DIE HORRIBLY.

In vol. 1 of the manga Yamamoto seems to have depressing thoughts about his baseball career and later almost jumps off the school roof after breaking his arm. What are your thoughts on this?

[identity profile] lolmafialol.livejournal.com 2008-09-18 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
I wrote an essay on this actually! Over here. (http://lolmafialol.livejournal.com/2346.html) but to quote the part that's the most relevant:

When we meet Yamamoto, he's hot in an ugly style, popular, and a baseball star beloved by the whole school - but on a personal level, he's in a slump. After he gets a half-hearted "hard work fixes everything" pep talk from Tsuna, he works too hard and snaps his arm - and the answer to this possible end of his baseball career IS CLEARLY SUICIDE, so he climbs up on the roof and freaks out the whole school. (...) ONE NEAR-DEATH EXPERIENCE LATER, Tsuna's saved Yamamoto's life, and Yamamoto instantly becomes gay for him and tells him he's amazing - that he's right, he should live with a dying will, and he doesn't know what he was thinking. The student body decides it was all a joke and brushes it off (it was a BIG DROP, SURELY SMOKE AND MIRRORS WERE INVOLVED), and we never see Yamamoto depressed again! :D :D :D Except 11 years later

What we DON'T KNOW at this point, is that alongside the goofy upbeat retardedness, Yamamoto is a very focused type of character who prioritizes himself based on major goals he revolves himself around. Gokudera and Yamamoto are set up to be parallels from the start: Tsuna's TWO MOST LOYAL FRIENDS/MEN, whose lives are both saved when they meet him and they're won over permanently by The Way Tsuna Is. While it's PRETTY OBVIOUS Gokudera needs to be someone's mafia bitch to have a fulfilling life, Yamamoto's needs in life are a lot more nebulous because we never actually get to see his inner thoughts. So, we rely on what he says and does! Luckily, Yamamoto wears himself on his sleeve, so understanding his opinion on things is basically a non-issue.

He's pretty much a mix on the same thing as Gokudera: he operates on being DEVOTED TO SOMETHING, and he needs to have a sense that he's achieving something in what he's devoted to. He told Tsuna he was in danger of losing his position on the team, but that's total bullshit seeing as he's clearly Namimori's star player! He's brilliant! The guy at the baseball nets says he's incredible and Yamamoto just brushes it off because he can't meet his own insanely high personal standard. Which means it actually had nothing to do with outside-world payoff or appearances. What Yamamoto needed was a sense of personal achievement, that he was accomplishing something. So "not improving anymore" was a slump bad enough to freak him out and decide there was nothing to live for. How important "something he can DO" is continues to crop up every once and a while! In the Kokuyo arc, when he had the choice to protect his body (for an upcoming baseball game) or get badly injured during a mafia event, he actively sacrifices his arm to protect Tsuna. Brushing off Tsuna's concern for the injury, and saying that he's not a person who puts anything in front of his friends anymore, is PRETTY TELLING that Yamamoto's made Tsuna/the mafia his new true priority, though he still prioritizes baseball if he can. Later, when he's fighting against Squalo and creates a new sword technique with a baseball stance, he says something else that crops up a lot for him: "Unfortunately, I'm not good at anything else other than baseball." So! EARLIER, he was under the impression that there was NOTHING ELSE HE WAS GOOD FOR. Also, he was thirteen years old. There was a very healthy dose of good old basic stupidity involved. Deciding to kill himself over baseball, because he thinks it's the only thing he'll ever be good at and he has no purpose otherwise, is a VERY TUNNEL-VISIONED THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD THING TO DO.

[identity profile] lolmafialol.livejournal.com 2008-09-18 03:41 am (UTC)(link)

Initially Yamamoto being suicidal is a really awkward way to introduce such a cheerful character - I didn't even mention it in his canon when I wrote his application, because it had NOTHING TO DO with his current character or state of being. Because, REALLY, IT IS SORT OF WEIRD AND AWKWARD compared to his existence in the rest of the day-in-the-life arc! The fact that the character who is the most cheerful of all of them, the source of HILARIOUS OBLIVIOUS RETARDATION, was suicidal when he entered the picture . . . what! BUT. It's much, much easier to understand (...) looking at it retrospectively. Amano has this THING where a lot of what she does is only interesting in retrospect. In the end, the most defining thing about Yamamoto isn't that he's happy or oblivious (though that's definitely the most obvious thing!) - it's that he's steady and reliable. So the attempted suicide WASN'T ACTUALLY OUT OF LEFT FIELD AND TOTALLY WRONG FOR HIS CHARACTER AFTER ALL \o/ and is in fact helpful (OR EVEN PIVOTAL? maybe not :\) in understanding how he ticks. He wasn't depressed in the extended, miserable sense (though he was certainly being extremely fatalistic), and nothing about his cheer is remotely fake or overcompensating, as he is naturally cheerful. He just.... didn't think there was any point in someone who can't even do the one, single thing he's good at.

Now he has Tsuna, and the mafia, so there's no need to worry about him slipping back into that mindset.

AUDIENCE WANTS TO KNOW HOW THE CHIN SCAR HAPPENED PLS?

[identity profile] lolmafialol.livejournal.com 2008-09-18 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
MULTIPLE THEORIES

1: He got it in a fight against Squalo. THIS IS PRETTY LIKELY, he and Squalo are RIVALS!1! and I highly doubt they ever hold back or "just spar" whenever they have a match.

2. He got it in a plotpoint related fight, because nothing ever scars in Reborn unless it's got story significance or bawwwww significance. Best candidates are when Tsuna got killed, or when his dad was killed. ALSO PRETTY LIKELY but sad :(

3. He got it doing something stupid, like tripping on Lambo and smacking his face on the kitchen counter. ALSO PRETTY LIKELY

4. THIS IS MY FAVORITE other than the Squalo one: he got it while he was still pretty young on a mafia mission. It still has Plot Relevance, and it's pretty personal, and that way he had a badass scar while he was still a teenager, and made up stories about how he got it whenever his classmates asked him about it. It was probably one of the first times he had to kill someone.

FOR ANSWERS 1, 2, AND 4, his life was in critical danger. If it was a swordfight, I also like the idea that it's just a piece of a much larger scar, since getting a thin deep scar like that on his chin implies a diagonal swing. |Db

[identity profile] flyingteapot.livejournal.com 2008-09-18 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
alskjdfAHAHAHA @ 3

Also omg ONE MORE? REGARDING 4? Tell me about Yama's first kill?

[identity profile] lolmafialol.livejournal.com 2008-10-27 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
Answering this a MILLION YEARS LATER.

I'll give him around... late end of 17 years old. It was in fact a kill mission. To kill a REALLY EVIL FUCKER, a "this guy is only around for four chapters" fucker but still it's a skeevy mission. Yamamoto was alone for it, or at least, he accepted the solo mission by himself. He's actually the first of them . . . other than MukuroChrome and Hibari. . . to officially kill someone on a mission (Gokudera's probably killed some fucker with his bombs before but ya know, in GAG CHAPTER SENSE - he's never been on assassin mission). Tsuna wasn't expressly aware of what he was doing right away (The mission was offered/explained by Reborn), but Gokudera found out (and was. ...reserved. Was the sword idiot really gonna do it? He'd been stubborn for so long. Did he miss something? He hadn't even killed anyone himself yet. etc etc) and eventually (once Yamamoto was gone) Reborn told Tsuna.

Tsuna was UNHAPPY And worried and DDD:, and Reborn was HARSH WITH HIM, because some fuckers deserve to die and Yamamoto chose to take this and he was an assassin, DEAL WITH IT. But he also mentions Yamamoto might not be ready, and may have taken the mission to see if it could be resolved another way (it's kind of a. . . situation. REAL SPECIFIC RITE, but it's not so cut and dry, yet Reborn's pretty adamant about it, so Yamamoto took it partly because he wanted to see for himself.) Tsuna eventually settled on being more worried for Yama's life than for whether or not he was gonna kill someone, but he was OCCUPIED, so Gokudera followed up. GRUMBLING. NOT WORRIED AT ALL. Fucker getting ahead of him, he'd make the kill himself if he had to!. . .

As he goes through the building which is a VERY BLOODY SCENE he gets more and more worried, he finds the body of the guy who's the target, very definitely cut down by a sword. Yamamoto's not there! He runs back out and it's raining, and finally catches up to Yamamoto who's all bloody and surprised to see him.

And he's honestly okay! Hurt a little, he'll scar from it on his upper shoulder. He chose the mission, and chose to finally turn his sword around and make the kill for the Vongola. It's a little anticlimactic, after holding back for so long, and from all the heat Squalo and Reborn gave him over the years, he would've thought it'd be more dramatic than that, ha ha.

Still, it's not a nice thing. And Gokudera catches it, mainly because - it's one of those moments where Yamamoto does something that he didn't expect, so he pays attention. After Yamamoto returns and reassures Tsuna (despite JESUS EYES or maybe because of them :( he's ttly willing to kill for his jesus), and Reborn pats him on the cheek, Gokudera is the one that sees the most impact. Because being reliable for Tsuna is very important, and Gokudera's a smart kid who knows Yamamoto damn well from all that perpetual time together.

Yamamoto and Gokudera thus sorta wordlessly start helping each other through that kind of thing, either just by being there or more direct comfort. They very willingly handle all the kills (o-other than mukuro and hibari) the Vongola dish out, so they can use their own judgment so that Tsuna can always trust them to spare someone who deserves it, so he can have confidence when they don't. They are an AMAAAZING team.

Anyway, I think it's something like this because it's really very - mafia. Yamamoto's moments where his choice to not kill are highlighted - specifically with Squalo and Reborn - are unique to him. It's not a universal issue - Tsuna gets heat for not being hard enough, and Gokudera gets more heat for needing to open up, but neither of them get specifically "you need to make kills." That's always been Yamamoto. And it's always been kind of private, his own personal induction into the mafia world. Something like this, a hit, where he made his own decision to do it - killing not a NOBODY, he sure as hell talked down that it was anticlimactic and he'll never forget it, but it's not a boss fight - is definitely what I see for his first kill. And he's hit deeply, a little off for a bit, but he was ready and he made his choice. He's a natural-born assassin after all.
